Southern Seawater Desalination Project

As a result of the extensive community consultation undertaken over the last four years, a sustainable, environmentally friendly project has been developed.

Whilst we will be continuing to consult with you throughout the construction of the second stage and operation of the desalination plant, we would like to thank everyone involved in the consultation thus far.

Your concerns have been heard and were possible, have been addressed in the final plant layout and design.

The attachment below highlights how the five major concerns of the community have been addressed.

Additionally, in conjunction with the Community Reference Group, a 'Commitments Register' has been developed.  Whilst many of the commitments are contained within our management plans, this register is an easy-to-follow document that allows the community to monitor the project.

Social Impact Management Plan

In consultation with the Community Reference Group, Beckwith Environmental Planning Pty Ltd developed a Social Impact Management Plan (SIMP).

The SIMP provides mechanisms for the community to monitor and measure the potential social impacts on the communities of Binningup and Myalup during both the construction and operation of the desalination plant. The SIMP will be audited annually during the life of the project.
