What was H2ome Smart?

H2ome Smart was partially funded through the Water Corporation and the Australian Government's Water for the Future initiative. It was a completely FREE and voluntary 12 month program that aimed at helping households to reduce water use and encourage water efficiency.

What towns were part of H2ome Smart in the Great Southern?

The H2ome Smart program was available to households using scheme water in:

  • Albany
  • Cranbrook
  • Denmark
  • Frankland
  • Kendenup
  • Narrikup
  • Mt Barker and
  • Walpole

Success of the program

The program conculded in March 2012 with great success. There were about 4,500 households that participated and we saved over 90 million litres of water over the 12 months. This equates to over 40 Olympic sized swimming pools! Well done to all involved.

The program also replaced 942 toilets and 4160 showerheads for more water efficient models.
