Apply to discharge industrial waste
Industrial waste, commonly know as trade waste, is any wastewater discharge from business or industry, other than that which comes from staff amenities or office facilities.

Discharge of industrial waste to the Water Corporation’s sewer systems are only permitted if they meet our Acceptance Criteria
Apply for a permit
To apply for an Industrial Waste Permit, download and complete the Application to Discharge Commercial and Industrial Wastewater to Sewer form and the applicable supplement form (see following section).
Supplement forms
If you are operating a business in the following categories, the relevant supplement form(s) must also be completed and included with your application:
| Automotive Services
- Service station, mechanical servicing or repair, vehicle (carwash) or parts washing

| Large or Complex Industries
- Businesses with large or complex waste streams, such as food manufacturers, chemical formulators, metal finishers, industrial laundries, waste treatment facilities, laboratories, dump facilities or radioactive waste.

We will contact you within 14 days of receiving your application.
The permit will specify the:
- amount of industrial waste that is allowed to be discharged
- substances that are allowed to be discharged
- type of pre-treatment that either is, or needs to be installed
- other conditions as applicable
To apply for a short term or one-off discharge eg. waste tankering, to the wastewater system download and complete the Application to Discharge: one-off discharge form.
